This series began as quiet sketches made during Saturday mornings at a neighborhood coffeehouse. While waiting for my car to be washed, I spent one to two hours sipping dark roast Sumatra, sketchbook open, letting the time slow down.
These works, spanning pencil sketches, ink washes, watercolors, and digital paintings, capture moments of focused listening and creative flow. They reflect a space where music, observation, and imagination met, and where creativity was less about outcome and more about presence.

Mr. Dynamite-James Brown
Acrylic on Masonite Board-For some reason I gave up painting in acrylic years ago and this painting was my reintroduction to the medium. I really like the vibrancy of the colors and the ability to work fast with the paint. The warm colors in the face play well against the cool colors of the turquoise suit. I like the pose because I can almost hear James singing, "Please, Please, Please."
